On February 14, 2019, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California granted preliminary approval of a $5.4 million class action settlement in Castro v. ABM Industries, Inc., and certified a Settlement Class of Cleaners who worked for ABM from October 24, 2010 through February 14, 2019. Plaintiffs allege that their employer, ABM, failed to reimburse them and other janitorial employees throughout California for work-related use of their personal cell phones, in violation of California Labor Code § 2802, the California Unfair Competition Law, and the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).
