Court Awards $18.75 Million to Computer Workers in Strauch, et al. v. CSC

On August 12, 2019, the Professional System Administrators and Associate Professional System Administrators who won a jury verdict against Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in December 2017 were awarded of $18,755,016.46. The Plaintiffs in the case, Strauch, et. al. v. CSC, No. 3:14-cv-00956 (JBA) (D. Conn.), alleged that CSC misclassified approximately 1,000 System Administrators as exempt from overtime under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act as well as California and Connecticut law. Following the jury’s verdict that CSC willfully misclassified these employees, the case entered a damages phase in January 2018, including the appointment of Special Master D. Charles Stohler in January 2019. On August 12, the Court adopted the Report and Recommendation of the Special Master on issues impacting the damages calculation and entered an amended judgment awarding the Plaintiffs approximately $18.75 million in damages.

Todd Jackson, Darin Ranahan and Genevieve Casey of Feinberg, Jackson, Worthman & Wasow LLP represented the System Administrators at trial and in the damages phase of the case, along with co-counsel from Outten & Golden and Leiff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein, LLP.
